Like everyone start their days, we start our blog with the first meal of the day, breakfast. It is not hard to pick what breakfast that we would like to share. We choose Nasi Tim in Pasar Asemka. We are not sure what the name of the place is. Since it is located in Pasar Asemka and it is Nasi Tim, let's just say the place is Nasi Tim Pasar Asemka.

Pasar Asemka is located in West Jakarta, not far from Kota Tua. The market is under a flyover next to Mandiri Museum, But you can find the Nasi Tim place at the market building. It is a four storeys building with Chinese architecture style.
It is easy to get there whether you go by public transportation or your own vehicle. If you go on a public transportation, you can take Transjakarta and go to Kota shelter. From the shelter, you just need to walk to west for about 10 minutes. you will find the building on your right side.
If you come with your own vehicle, i would suggest you come from Passer Baroe. From Passer Baroe, you just need to head to the flyover. It is better for you to park your vehicle before you reach the market since the traffic is so crazy.

After reach the building, just go to the second floor right away. The place is on the North side of the building. If you can not find it, just ask people there, People will not be mistaken since there is only one place that sells Nasi Tim in Pasar Asemka,
At the Nasi Tim place, there is only one meal you can get, Nasi Tim, of course. So, we order two Nasi Tims.
They served really fast. Only in a minute, Nasi Tim came with a bowl of chicken broth. There is nothing special about the look of the dish. No condiment. It is just Nasi Tim in a shape of cut cone with minced chicken placed above the rice.
They have prepare so many Nasi Tims in a huge pot. They only need to take one and put it on the plate everytime people order. |
The Nasi Tim in this place is quite different with the ones at another place. Most of nasi tim have soft texture that almost like a porridge. This one here was a bit dry and looked like reguler steamed rice.
Now, let's just forget about the look. The most important thing here is the taste. There is nothing to complain about the dry texture since the flavour of the dish is very rich. The rice itself tasted really good since it is cooked with chicken broth.So did the minced chicken. It is not over-seasoned nor less-seasoned.
To make it better, you just need to pour the soup that came with the nasi tim. It made the Nasi Tim taste richer and better.

If you want something more, they serve some add-on too. There are two add-ons that you can choose, egg and white egg. If you choose egg, they will put the egg on the top of your Nasi Tim. For your information, the egg is raw. It is totally raw and you can see the egg cracked in front of you.If you hate raw egg, I would suggest you not to ask for it.
Not like the full egg, the white egg is served cooked. They cook the white egg in the boiling chicken broth and serve it on the side-bowl.

There is no bad smell at all.The heat from the nasi tim makes the egg half-cooked. Before you eat, you have to mix them all first. The egg makes the Nasi Tim taste better, more savory, and tastier.

Since the egg makes it better, we would like to have the raw egg on the other dish too. But when we asked, the owner refused to add the egg since the nasi tim is not hot anymore. It will make the egg smelly and not taste good anymore.
After having the meal, it was time for us to face the bill. The price of the nasi tim is Rp 28.000,- each and for the add-on is Rp 3.000,-. There are also some side dishes, such as Bakso Goreng (fried meatball) for Rp 5.000,- and otak-otak for Rp 4.000,-.
It is quite expensive for one portion of nasi tim. But we think it is worth the price since the taste made it worth it.
